First established in 1972 to commemorate the life and work of Scottish documentary filmmaker John Grierson (“the father of documentary”), the Grierson Awards identify the most innovative and exciting documentary films produced every year.  In partnership with the UK Film Council since 200 the awards have grown in prestige and are recognised as a key marker of excellence.
